Setting

I have decided that I will be shooting the video at a nearby park called Weston Regional Park, it contains all the settings that I need for the video. It has the basketball court outside so the weather can play in as a factor. I am still deciding whether I should film during the day or at night, still have to figure out when the better lighting is. I have reached out to a close friend of mine who plays basketball so the shots can be well done with someone that really knows how to handle the ball. Regarding the music topic for the film opening, I have reached out to a pretty big upcoming musician whose music I really enjoy and I have very high hopes that this artist will respond to me and allow me to us ehis music in the film.

Main Character and Plot

Image
I have finally come up with the main character for my film opening, his name will be Martin, physically there is not anything special about him he will just look like another normal teenager, living a normal life but I am hoping that with my film opening, people can see what he really is going through and that life is not so easy for him.     So I was thinking of starting the opening off with a type of highlight reel that will show how talented Martin is and that sports is where he is his best at, I plan on also showing the way that sports makes him be known around the community. The way that the school star brings attention to himself after winning his school the game with everyone watching him and rooting for him, and the thing I want to show the most is the fact that he has to act all happy and excited for the fans as these are the kids that can make his high school life much better or much worse but to show this is an all an act I also have to show his sadness by maybe his mo

Decisions made

So after lots of research, I have finally made the big decision of what I will be doing for my big film opening. I have decided to stick with my original idea of going with the drama genre, it will be focused on more a teen drama involving sports, as I believe this is the genre I can most relate with and will be able to make the best work possible with.     One big decision I still have to make is what sport specifically I will integrate into my film opening, I was thinking of making a clip like the highlight reels that athletes make but up close and personal so the things that the athlete is feeling and his facial expressions can really be felt through the camera. But after seeing many examples I found on social media from people with filming experience I am stuck between soccer and basketball.     I checked over some of the necessary things to make an opening like this and I already have the equipment that I'd need for both choices, and I have many options for the location of

Plot Explanation

Easily explained,  the plot is  what happens  in a film, the narrative sequence of events that determine the outcome of the characters. Thus, movie plots are the events that happen, in sequence, in order to show a cause and effect.  The plot is the driving force of the story, and the best plots are driven by characters making tough decisions to achieve a goal, overcoming obstacles all the while to get there.      Stories need plots because the plot is what happens in a story, without a plot, nothing would happen, and thus you would have no story. While the story in a movie tells us why and how something happens, the plot is what happens. Stories help us structure and understand the world around us, and it’s through following a chain of events (the plot) and how events affect change in characters that we learn about others and ourselves. Plots also help the audience of a story to understand themes and characters. By following a plot and watching cause and effect in action, we can p

Characters research

Image
Character development is the process of creating a character for a work of fiction such as a feature film , television show, or novel.  As mentioned, it’s often broken down to two kinds of characters:  Static character development  and  dynamic character development .  Protagonist Explanation The concept of a protagonist comes from Ancient Greek drama, where the term originally meant, “the player of the first part or the chief actor.”  In film today, the protagonist is the character who drives the plot, pursues the main goal of the story, and usually changes or grows over the course of the film. A protagonist enters the film with a goal and by the end of the film, they either achieved that goal or did not. The protagonist’s character arch is defined by the pursuit of that goal. For example, Luke Skywalker from Star Wars.                                                                       There are three types of protagonists: heroes, anti-heroes, and villain protagonists.  A hero

Horror Genre Research

Image
Welcome back my fellow readers, today we will be looking into the horror genre, it is not my personal favorite but I believe I could maybe come up with some very good ideas with some research.      A  horror film  is one that seeks to elicit fear  in its audience for entertainment purposes.   Horror films additionally aim to evoke viewers' nightmares, fears, and terror  of the unknown . Initially inspired by literature from authors such as Edgar Allan Poe and Bram Stoker,  horror has existed as a film genre for more than a century. Horror may also overlap with the fantasy, supernatural fiction, and thriller  genres.  Plots within the horror genre often involve the intrusion of an evil  force, event, or personage into the everyday world, they sometimes include elements like ghosts, vampires, werewolves, aliens, serial killers, clowns, etc...     One subgenre of horror that interests me is Teen Horror, maybe since I am a teen myself I have a natural connection with it and understand

Drama Genre Research

Image
Welcome back my fellow readers, today I will be discussing my personal favorite genre, DRAMA  Background of the Drama Genre       Drama is one of the earliest genres in cinema, and to this day it has held on to their popularity. Reaching a total of 36.89 billion dollars on box office revenue in North America from 1995 to 2020, drama films are arguably one of the most popular and successful film genres. Drama as a whole is a very broad subject, including various subgenres such as psychological dramas and historical dramas , which all contributed to the mass success of the drama genre overall.       Dramas consist of a serious presentation of settings or real-life situations that portray realistic characters in conflict with themselves, others, or the forces of nature. Overall, these films are extremely character-driven as opposed to plot-driven. Though subgenres like the ones mentioned above add more plot to the narrative, at the end of the day dramas driven by the characters, who they

Brainstorming with The Portfolio Project

Welcome back my fellow readers,          As I mentioned in my last post this blog will now be transitioning into the planning and production of my Cambridge Final Project, this project consists of filming a 2 minute film opening. It is now officially time to start coming up with ideas and ways I can make the best project possible, and I realized that d ue to the fact that I'll be working alone in this project and I don't have any previous experience in this field other than what we've learned in class, I decided to not get too ahead of myself and research everything that goes into this project before I make a decision since I feel like if something is rushed and not well thought out it will not come out good.     First, I realized that the genre has to be chosen at first because every genre has their own plots, ideas, colors, sounds, etc... but all of those have to come after choosing the genre. I will be researching all the main genres for my next blog posting,

The Final Project

So far, this blog has been used to share and talk about may research and production projects I have done in my media studies class, I have also mentioned many times in my postings that those projects were going to help me in the future for other projects and assignments.          Now, it is time to start my final Cambridge Portfolio project, a two minute film opening, and this what I will be blogging about consistently in the next months. I will discuss my thinking process and all the ideas and inspirations that cross my mind when I am creating this film opening. At this very moment, I have told myself that I will be approaching this project with an open mind and try not to go with the usual choices I have gone with in the past.           I am very excited about this project as I have never been assigned such a project before, but this excitement will push me to do the best work I possibly can. I have many ideas that are to be researched more thoroughly, but my first t

Finished Marketing Music Project

Image
Me and my team are now finished with our Music Marketing project, with help from all the members we created LoneStarz. He is an upcoming singer in the Rock genre and we created for him all things necessary for him to go to the next level.                     We started off by brainstorming the ways that a new and upcoming artist makes his way to the top these days, and the one clear answer was social media. Today, hundreds of artists trying to make their music a hit, attempt to put it out on social media, hoping it will get recognized by the big people who can give them a hand to take their music to next step. Tik Tok at this moment is the biggest social media platform, so we decided that our new artist would start there, making videos with his songs, performing on live streams, interacting with fans. The one challenge that came up was how will our artist stand out from the other hundreds of artists trying to do the same thing, so we came up with a plan where the artist a famo
