      Unfortunately, I have ran into a major problem, as I mentioned before in one of my previous vlogs I had planned to film the beginning  of my opening at the basketball courts at Weston Regional Park. I had decided that I wanted to film the basketball part at night with the lights shining on the court, so it would give a "Friday Night Lights" type of vibe which I thought would be the best for that scene.      I have been going to those courts for a long time and they have always shut off at 10pm and I have just found out as I went to film that due to COVID-19 they are turning the lights off at 8pm, the problem comes with the fact that in the city where the court is located, the sunset is at 7:30pm so it is almost impossible to film anything with the full night out in the sky and the lights shining on the court.     So now I either have to go around the city of Weston and find a court with lights that turn off after the sun goes down so I can film at night or readjust my p

  Before filming I wanted to make sure I was prepared for what I believe is one of the most challenging, editing. I do not really have much experience with editing video and the types of software, so I reached out to some people that do have experience with these softwares and they all told me that for someone with my experience Adobe Premiere Pro will be the best app for the editing part of my film opening. So today I decided to play around with it and get a good feeling of how it works and after that it feels like the program is not very hard to use but I do not want to jinx anything before I get into the actual process. I will be filming and editing this week so stay tuned as I take you all through the process.

  I will be recording the film from my phone since I was not able to find a more professional camera but I have tried it out and from past experience I know that the phone will get the job done.           I will be using a tripod that I bought that I believe will help me not have any shaky shots which are very noticeable in a film and kind of make the viewers feel as if they are watching something unprofessional. Other than these two things there is nothing I need on the filming part of the film opening but there are things I do need to put in the film like the costumes, the props, etc...

  I have now received full permission from the artist, Yorghaki, he has told me that everything is fine with me using his music for my film opening. All I have to do now is to just choose which songs are the ones I want to use, I will choose these songs based on how I feel they match the energy of film opening the best. I feel like music is key to setting the mood in a movie, so I am very thankful Yorghaki is allowing me to use his work for my film opening so I just wanted to give a huge thanks to Yorghaki and I will try my best to using his music in the best way I can.

      Today in class we were put into groups of 4 to discuss each other's film openings and bounce ideas off of each other. I was paired up with Marco, Kenneth, and Lorena and I think we did an amazing job, we all shared what we have done for our project so far and it taught some things I should be doing as well and although we all had different genres I learned many things I can incorporate into my own story.     Marco is doing a film about a boy whose dad disappeared in the woods some years ago and the boy is on a mission to find out what happened to his dad as he goes back to the same woods. For this he has to create a lot of suspension which is something I had not really thought about but think that would fit perfectly into my film. I thought about bringing some suspense into the love triangle I'll try to create within the main characters, so I am really glad we were put into these discussion groups as now I have something that might make my opening a lot more interesting.

  So this is the official email I have sent to the artist I am looking to use the music for (Yorghaki), I am still waiting for him to email me back confirming that I can use his music with no problems but this email is just to have proof that he has given me permission, I actually saw Yorghaki in real life and I have already spoken to him and he said that it is 100% fine and that he is looking forward to see my film opening and how I used his music.

 So I have been thinking about what each person should be wearing throughout the film opening, and I have thought that the actors will have to change their clothing a few times to really show where they stand in the film and what type of person they are.     For martin, the main character, the basketball scene will be in a basketball uniform which I already have everything except the jersey which is what I have been waiting for to start the filming process, I ordered it already but it has taken some time to arrive to my house, other than the basketball uniform I will have this character wear very simple clothing, nothing too fancy since one of the issues trying to be shown in the opening will be financial issues in his home, I think these two outfits will be perfect for describing this character and the vibe he gives off to others.     For the two girls playing a role in this film opening I was thinking about going the classic high school love triangle with one of the girls being like

      Hello guys welcome back, So I have finally found the people who will play a part in my film opening and I believe I have chosen the perfect people for each role. First, is my close friend Martin who will be playing the main character who is the star athlete who will be  showing both sides of his life which is one where he is the star athlete who is loved by everyone from that part of his life and he always seems happy to everyone but they do not know what really goes on behind the curtains in his other life, my friend is an athlete in real life so I feel like he'll fit into this role perfectly and he will be good for the basketball part since he has experience with basketball.     Then, I reached out to two of my friends who are both girls if they could lead the roles of the girls who will make up the drama part of the film opening,  so I will use the two of them to create a dramatic scene between them and Martin, so in a way it will be like a love triangle and also show issu

   So when I was trying to figure out what music I would be able to use for this project I knew it was going to be very difficult to get a big artist to notice one of my emails when they get thousands a day, so I thought about smaller artists that I know of and that there’s a chance of them responding to my email and I have found the perfect choice, Yorghaki.     Yorghaki is a producer/artist from Venezuela which is where i’m from so in a way I feel like I’m helping him in a way too and it is a thing I enjoy helping others from my country. So Yorghaki has around 155,000 monthly listeners which is a good amount for an upcoming artist, I still have to choose which song of his I’d like to use for my opening but I’m going to wait until I have the full clip so I see what song goes best with the clip, I have been waiting to share these news with you guys.        The first box is meant to like introduce the setting, the place we are at, the weather, I was thinking that I should do it around like 5pm which is kind of like when sunset begins and since the basketball court is outside, I feel like these views will look very well in the shots as the background for the athlete. Then, it will transition to a close up shot of the player which will be like a slow motion shot where the camera moves but the player stays in the same spot, I will make sure that the player stares deep into the camera for the establishing the connection part.     After the slow motion shot of the player close up, comes the part where I have been doing the most research on. The highlight clip where I'll record the player doing all types of things having to do with his sport like shooting and dribbling while I get all types of low and high angles, some moving shots and some set shots, some close up and long shots with background music, this part has to come out good

 This is the storyboard for just the beginning of the film opening where the athlete is kind of introduced and his sport, I will be explaining each shot more thoroughly in the next post so stay tuned.
